BCECA Conference

BCECA has officially launched this year’s virtual conference which will take place on 8th October. The engineering contractors’ role in delivering UK energy transformation will dominate the agenda again.

Given continuing economic uncertainty, we’re delighted to confirm that former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Lord Philip Hammond, will join us to offer his thoughts on the new political landscape at home and abroad and the implications for decarbonisation and net zero.

The conversation will continue with a series of topic-focused breakout sessions throughout the autumn, and we’ll pull the threads together in our conference report at a reception in the House of Lords on 13 January 2026.

BCECA Industry Day Events

The programme of university visits for the 2024/25 academic year has now been completed. Across the two semesters, twelve university departments spanning chemical, mechanical, electrical and control & instrumentation engineering were visited by 47 facilitators drawn from BCECA member companies.

Almost 800 students participated in the series of workshops that were delivered, providing an insight into the world of BCECA member companies and a typical energy project life cycle. Plans are now underway to prepare for the 2025/26 academic year visits.

BCECA Pay Rates Surveys

In March this year, the latest BCECA Engineering Salary Survey was issued and completed by BCECA members, followed by the BCECA Indices Report in April.

This report, produced by Alan Jones and Associates on behalf of BCECA, tracks pay movement in the industry for permanent engineering staff (salaries) and for agency personnel (hourly rates). The Indices are calculated using the movement in the medians of the samples for the two groups, as collated in the BCECA Engineering Salary Survey and the BCECA Agency Rates Pay Survey.

The Indices Reports are produced twice a year, in April and October, following on from the Engineering and Agency surveys. For more information, or to join the survey programme, please contact Tracey Shelley: [email protected]

Women in Trade Associations Powerlist 2025

For the third year in succession, BCECA’s CEO, Tracey Shelley, has been included in the Women in Trade Associations Powerlist, which champions the role of women in Trade Associations.

The Powerlist is a joint initiative promoted by the Trade Association Forum (TAF), the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and the CBI (Confederation of British Industry) and it was published on 7th March, the day before International Women’s Day.
