The conference series provides a platform for a broad range of stakeholders to discuss how those solutions can be delivered and an opportunity to showcase best practices and lessons learned during the execution of major projects.
BCECA's first online conference took place in 2021. Initially conceived as a workaround to the difficulties posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we quickly realised the value of virtual meetings and their potential to bring experts together in an era where pressure on time, travel, cost, and carbon footprint are at the forefront. The initiative proved fruitful. Over 200 people registered for our inaugural online conference. Themed around the concept of 'Delivering the Energy Transition', the meeting examined the decarbonisation agenda from the perspective of UK-based engineering contractors.
We built on this success in 2022, adding a physical post-conference evening gathering in London in December. Conference delegates and other guests reconvened for a reception, where the key findings and recommendations from BCECA's second virtual conference were presented and discussed. In 2023 and 2024, we made further improvements to the conference programme to facilitate further productive conversations on the urgent topic of energy transformation and the central role that UK-based engineering contractors play in making it a reality. A post-conference report-back and reception was held in the House of Lords for both events.
The 5th Annual Conference was held in October 2025 and was followed by a series of online breakout sessions. Key stakeholders and opinion formers joined representatives from BCECA member companies and their partners for the publication of the conference report at a reception in the House of Lords in 2026.
BCECA's 2026 Conference Series gets underway on Wednesday 3 June, with a webinar looking at the current geopolitical reality and what it means for the engineering and energy sectors in the UK.
